TRYOUT WEEK

COME TRY OUT THE TEAM!

New and returning archers are invited to spend four days shooting with the Bend High Archers, meeting the coaches, trying equipment, and learning about the team and shooting divisions.  This is not a cut tryout — everyone is welcome to join the team.
The goal is to let you try out the team before committing to the season, joining the required organizations and purchasing equipment.

DURING TRYOUT WEEK

SHOOTING DIVISIONS:

Male and Female for the following:

Oregon Bowhunter (OHSAL only Division)

Modern Bowhunter (Follows NFAA rules)

Barebow (Follows USA/World Archery Rules)

Olympic Recurve (Follows USA/World Archery Rules)

Open Class (Follows USA/World Archery Rules)

 

TWO TEAM OPTIONS

COMPETITIVE TEAM

For high school archers who are ready to compete and be part of a team. Competitive archers shoot our weekly league Thursday nights from 7:00–9:00 at Bend Bowmen, compete in local and travel tournaments, have team jerseys, and can qualify for the OSHAL State Championship in January. Archers attending Bend High or Caldera High may also have the opportunity to earn a Varsity Letter.  The Competitive Team is open to students in grades 9–12 from high schools throughout Bend, Redmond, Sisters, Prineville, and Tumalo. Archers outside our normal area may petition to compete with Bend High Archers.

Competitive archers are required to have:

• Their own archery equipment

• Bend Bowmen Student or Family Membership

• NFAA Membership

• USA Archery Membership

• Bend High Archers Competitive Team membership

NON-COMPETITIVE TEAM

For beginning archers or those who want to learn, practice, and improve without the commitment of competition. This is a lower-cost option with no tournament entry fees or NFAA/USA Archery memberships required.

The Non-Competitive Team is open to archers ages 13–19. Archers practice with the team, work with our coaches, and develop their skills at their own pace.

Non-Competitive archers are required to have:

• Their own archery equipment

• Bend Bowmen Student or Family Membership

• Bend High Archers Non-Competitive Team membership

AFTER TRYOUT WEEK

​

At the end of the four days, archers who want to continue can choose a team and commit to the season.  All team members will need their own archery equipment for the season. Coaches can help families select the right equipment before purchasing.
